So now that Halloween is out of the way, it’s time to look ahead to Remembrance Day. For most, it’s a day off work, for others, it’s a shorter day with time off for attending one of the Remembrance Day Services or observing the day in your own way.
For my girlfriend, it’s sitting at home and watching old war movies. Others might have their own rituals, but there is one common thread, we all use the day to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who went overseas to fight in World Wars 1 and 2, plus all those other wars Canada was involved in.
I just wonder if people will continue to use November 11th as a day of Remembrance. There are no World War 1 vets alive now and some World War 2 vets are going. I suppose there will always a day to reflect on those who fought and died so that you and I can live in a more peaceful world.
